Goals & Objectives
This course will provide the attendee with knowledge of the comprehensive view of the complex elements as it relates to the right actions for the professional in the Behavioral Health Field.
This session is designed to develop an understanding of, and facilitate discussion by parents with their children about gambling and problems related to gambling.
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will:
- Understand the specific dynamics of gambling, particularly youth gambling in the United States
- Be able to describe common ways that youth gamble
- Understand theories of problem and pathological gambling specific to youth
- Learn ways to assist parents to identify potential problems in children
- Learn ways to assist parents in engaging with their children about gambling and related problems
- Discuss challenges in treating gambling problems
