Panelists will include:

  • Members of both Gamblers Anonymous and Gam‐Anon 12‐step groups
  • A seasoned counselor and trainer
  • A government official with a state‐wide view
  • A graduate student with a thesis centered around gambling
  • A middle‐school teacher who’s students completed problem gambling prevention programming

Topics will Include:

  • Gambling & student athletes
  • Risks for older adults who gamble
  • The family’s role in helping the gambler access treatment
  • Personal stories of gambling addiction and recovery
  • Gambling as a relapse risk for those in substance use disorder recovery
  • Gambling‐related issues faced by adolescents

Attendees will also view Compass Mark’s short film on local recovering gamblers and their families, and will have the opportunity to engage the panelists in discussion. Finally, handouts will be distributed which compile each of the panelists’ recommendations for how audience members can take positive action around the issue of problem gambling in the future.
