State of the State:
Addressing Problem Gambling in Pennsylvania
In October 2017 a major gambling expansion bill was passed in Pennsylvania, allowing for the possibility of more legalized gambling than ever before. Over the past several years, we have seen increased availability and participation, but we have also seen several situations where individuals have experienced problems. This program will discuss the several resources, programs and tools that have been put into place to address and prevent problems.
Presenters:
- Diana Dietz (Pennsylvania Lottery)
- Josh Ercole (Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania)
- Amy Hubbard (Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs)
- Elizabeth Lanza and Jack Gallick (Office of Compulsive and Problem Gambling)
- Gillian Russell (Penn State University)
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:
- Become familiar with forms of legislated gambling in Pennsylvania
- Discuss the potential impact of expanded forms of gambling
- Identify protections that have been included in legislated gambling
- Have awareness of available local resources
