Have you noticed the growing connection between video games and gambling?

This important session is aimed at adults, including parents, guardians, and educators, to help them understand the connections between gaming and gambling. Considering the potential risks associated with gambling, it’s essential to identify when a game shifts from being skill-based to one that relies on chance.

This webinar will examine the increasing presence of gambling features in arcade games, video games, and mobile applications and their impact on young individuals. We will explore why young individuals may engage in risky behaviors, evaluate how adults’ technology habits can affect children, and recognize the psychological impact of using in-game currency and tokens as opposed to real money within the gaming and gambling industries.

This session will also offer practical information on parental control options for devices and equip parents and caregivers with effective techniques to engage in discussions about these issues with their children. Participants will gain valuable insights into recognizing when gaming or gambling may be problematic, along with tools for making safer choices and accessing crucial community support services.

In addition, in this webinar, our guest speaker, Sylvie Smith, Therapist, Mental Health and Addiction, will answer questions and share practical strategies on how to set healthy boundaries with youth around gaming, social media use, and screen time.
