Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Address Gambling Disorder

Cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidenced based counseling practice that has been identified as effective in the treatment of Gambling Disorder. Individuals with gambling disorders develop beliefs and thoughts that support and influence the continuation of gambling behavior. Cognitive behavioral therapy addresses these cognitive distortions.

This training will focus on identifying cognitive distortions, triggers, and other thoughts that influence gambling behavior as well as cognitive behavioral techniques to address problem gambling. Through use of case studies, practice exercises, and interactive discussion the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to gambling disorders will be developed.

  4. Utilizing case studies and practice exercises make practical application of cognitive behavioral therapy with gambling disorders
