Advanced Biopsychosocial-Spiritual Treatment Design
Treatment for gambling use disorder is as complex as the individuals who develop the disorder.
The importance of treating the whole person from a cultural, biological, social and spiritual
perspective cannot be ignored. Having gained information on gambling, those impacted by
gambling, and the unique aspects of treatment of gambling disorder integrating, connecting,
and applying these concepts to program design will be a focus. The importance of spirituality,
relapse prevention, biology, and cultural strengths in recovery will be covered in their
application to gambling disorder. This workshop will allow attendees to work together to design treatment plans, using a variety of approaches, based on these complexities.

Goals & Objectives
- Participants will be able to offer client education on biogenetic differences among some
individuals with gambling related problems - Participants will be able to describe the essential elements in problem gambling relapse
prevention programs - Participants will be able to outline main considerations when working with clients from
diverse populations, including gender, age, religious and ethnical backgrounds - Participants will be able to define the biopsychosocial matrix inclusive of spirituality,
specific to treatment of problem gamblers and their families - Participants will be able to complete detailed program design exercises
