Wind Creek Bethlehem is sponsoring a workshop presented by The Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania, Inc.
“Ethics, Suicide Prevention and Self Care Considerations”
This training will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment, focusing specifically on gambling addiction, and discussion will also focus on suicidal ideation and attempt rates, which are often identified among those experiencing issues related to gambling.
The presentation will include the functions of ethical codes, values/morals and laws impacting the gambling addiction professional, the agency and the client. Case studies and ethical decision-making models will be discussed throughout the course, as will the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board’s (IGCCB) code of ethics, in order to help guide the practitioner. Additionally, warning signs, risk and protective factors, and resources aimed at prevention, intervention and reduction of suicide prevalence will be covered.
Finally, this workshop will address stress, moral injury and our work as problem gambling helping professionals, and the importance of incorporating self-care tools and methods into our practice.
